After some fuss, I discovered that the ISO level of the infrared camera is best set at 50 or 100. There may have been some noise at ISO 200. However; I believe the spots are real light, and especially convinced by a lengthy series of posts on pixls.us. (perhaps there is light leakage in the room referenced for these pages).
